Andrew Carnegie was perhaps the biggest influence on modern day economics that we have. He is the poster child for 'Rags to Riches' because he literally climbed his way from a poor migrant from Scotland to one of the top three richest men of their time. He left us with numerous bridges, buildings, halls, libraries, charities, colleges, the list goes on and on. But perhaps the most important thing Andrew Carnegie left us with was a hope that with enough luck and pure inability to give up anyone can pull themselves up by their boot straps and make a living. And also that being rich does not make it easy to make the right choices with your money; and one must even be careful when giving money away. In the world of economics Andrew Carnegie changed the game, by making more money than anyone thought possible and then giving it all away by the time he died, he changed the way people spend, save, and give away their money.
